Saying “No” to everything else

Famous people talk about how saying “No” is important. How it’s hard to do. How you should have a “not doing” list rather than a “to do” list. I imagine that these people get overloaded with book deals, interview requests, and conference appearances. These are the things that they learn to say no to. Why? Because it distracts them from their work. The work that made them famous in the first place.
What’s interesting though, is that they were saying No before they were giving advice on saying No. They had their singular focus and they were doing important work. It’s how they reached that level of success.
Me? I’m not famous. But I still need to say No. I need to say No so that I can get important work done.
